Adrian Shaffer

Adrian V. "Bud" Shaffer, 89, of Mountain Lake Park, MD, passed away September 14, 2025, at his residence. Born on September 3, 1936, in Brookside, WV, he was the son of the late Herman A. Shaffer and Bessie L. (Shoemaker) Johnson.

After attending Aurora High School, Bud worked as a talented stone mason, bricklayer, and blocklayer for local contractors. He then built a fulfilling career as a skilled carpenter with the Garrett County Board of Education, where he retired after 22 years. He attended the Underwood United Brethren in Christ Church. Bud found joy in watching local wildlife, feeding birds, squirrels, and deer. He was an avid NASCAR fan and thrifter, delighting in the hunt for unique treasures at local shops.

He is survived by his wife, Florence Juanita (Alexander) Shaffer; his two children, Scott Shaffer and wife Tammy of Kearneysville, WV, and Tracey Deckman and husband Wade of Oakland, MD; three grandchildren, Troy A. Deckman and fiancée Annie Beckstrand of Albuquerque, NM, Wyatt A. Deckman and girlfriend Oni Francisco of North Las Vegas, NV, and Matthew S. Shaffer of Kearneysville, WV.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his two sisters, Shirley J. Sorensen and Bonnie L. Reall.

Bud's request for cremation was honored, and a celebration of life will be held at a later date. He will be sadly missed by his wife, children, and grandchildren.
