Barbara Ellen Long

Barbara Ellen Long, 82, of Baltimore, passed away on April 26, 2026. Born on January 18, 1944, in Thomas, she was the daughter of the late Clayton and Violet (Keiper) Watring.

Barbara, a beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, built a fulfilling life centered around her Family and hard work, faith, and simple joys. She served many years as a dedicated manager for G.C. Murphy's, where her warm smile and steady leadership brightened the days of customers and coworkers alike. A lifelong Methodist, she drew strength and comfort from her church family and lived her beliefs with quiet grace. In her free time, she found true happiness in crocheting colorful afghans for loved ones, the friendly competition of Bingo games, the sweet aroma of homemade pies and cookies fresh from the oven, and the excitement of Family gatherings and bringing joy to all. She received countless comments on her beautiful smile and how it would light up a room.

She is survived by her husband of 66 years, Lowell Long, to whom she was married on June 18, 1960; two sons, David Long and Timothy Long; one grandson, David Long; two great-granddaughters, Nadia Long and Kara Long; and many brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two siblings, Robert Watring, and Cosesett (Watring) Feather.

Friends will be received on Saturday, May 2, 2026, from 11 AM to 1 PM, at the Fredlock & Fenner Funeral Homes - Davis Chapel. A funeral service will be held at 1 PM in the funeral home with Pastor Jim Martin officiating. Interment will follow in the Rose Hill Cemetery.
