Barbara Whitacre

Barbara (Elliott) Whitacre, 84, of Tallmadge passed away on May 14, 2025 due to complications from Kidney Disease. Barbara was born in Gleason, West Virginia on January 29, 1941, to the late Robert "Boots" and Isabella Elliott (nee Paugh). She was one of six siblings.

She is survived by her children, Anita (Bob) Baughman, Robert (Paul) Whitacre, Pamela (Johnny) Scott and Kenneth (Colin) Whitacre; grandchildren, Kasondra Scott, Sabrina (Jeremy) Dattilio, Mimi Whitacre and Shane Scott; great-grandson, Thomas Dattilio; sisters, Carol Matthews, Glenda (Richard)Baker, Lori (Mike) Paugh; and many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.

In addition to her parents, Barbara was preceded in death by Robert, her husband of 60 years; her grandson, Johnathon Scott; sister, Kay Huwig; and brother, Terry Elliott.

The family would like to express special thanks to Rosalie Hotchco for her care and support of Mom and our family over the years. We would not have made it without her. Our appreciation and gratitude to the staff of Cornerstone Caring. Many thanks to Katrina, Shanice, Shyla and Jessica. The compassion, concern and care will always be remembered with gratitude and appreciation. Thanks also to the staff of Summa Hospice and Pebble Creek Nursing home for sharing in Mom's care for the last several months. Your support and understanding were priceless.

She never met a stranger, loved to laugh and tease. A sarcastic wit and ready smile and feeding everyone who walked through her door. We miss her.

Visitation will be Wednesday May 21, 2025, from 11am until 1pm at Newcomer Funeral Home, 131 N. Canton Road, Akron, OH 44305. A funeral service will begin at 1pm.
