Carolyn Green

Carolyn Jean Green (Durst), 76, of Swanton, peacefully passed away on Tuesday, August 26, 2025, at Ruby Memorial Hospital, surrounded by loved ones. Born on May 24, 1949, in Cumberland, MD, she was the daughter of the late Lester F. and Nadiene E. Durst.

Carolyn was a graduate of Fort Hill High School and later became a registered nurse. She utilized her nursing degree working at Goodwill Mennonite Nursing Home and Dennett Road Manor Nursing Home.

She is survived by her husband, William E. "Bill" Green; children, John David Cook II and wife Brenda of Westernport, MD, Summer Kristen Ford of Swanton, MD, Raven Brittany Paugh and husband Thomas Paugh of Norwich, OH; grandchildren, Delores Clemons, Destiny Cook, Sierra Cook, Robyn Ward, Kaitlyn Ford, Brittney Johnson, John W. Cook, Dawn Cook, Gabrielle Paugh, Nancy Cook; six great-grandchildren; brother, Craig Durst; and many nieces and nephews. Carolyn was also survived by her faithful dog and companion, Scooby.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Melvin Durst, Charles D. Durst, William H. Durst, and Ivan Terry Durst; and sister, Delores Evans.

The family extends heartfelt thanks to her compassionate caregiver, Molly Furman, and her daughters for the wonderful care provided during Carolyn's final months at home.Friends will be received on Monday, September 1, 2025, from 11 AM to 1 PM at the Fredlock & Fenner Funeral Homes, P.A. - Oakland Chapel, 21 N. 2nd Street, Oakland, MD. A funeral service will follow immediately, with Pastor John Skipper officiating. Interment will be in Broadwater Cemetery, Swanton.
