Charles "Chuck" Leroy Shreve, 78, of Oakland, passed away on December 19, 2025, at WVU Ruby Memorial Hospital. Born on July 22, 1947, in Gormania, he was the son of the late Salem and Laura (Hanlin) Shreve.

Chuck, a 1965 graduate of Southern High School and a 1971 graduate of the Commercial Electronics Institute, built a respected career as a skilled furnace installation and repair technician while owning and operating Charles Shreve Construction. Known affectionately as Chuck, he was a devoted family man who served as the steady glue that held his loved ones together, always ready to help whenever anyone needed him. An avid outdoorsman and athlete, he enjoyed hunting and playing softball with the Mt. Top Old Timers League, but his deepest passions were spending time with family, attending church, and serving the Lord. A lifelong and original charter member of the Loch Lynn Church of God-along with his parents-Chuck faithfully served on the Pastor's Council and carried his faith into every interaction, earnestly wishing that everyone he met would come to know Jesus as he did. Even during his final days in the hospital, he made a point of asking each staff member whether they knew the Lord, leaving behind a legacy of unwavering devotion, quiet strength, and genuine care for others.

He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Patsy (Dodge) Shreve, to whom he was married on August 23, 1975; four children, Jason Shreve and wife Meredith of Oakland, Michael Shreve of Oakland, Steve Shreve and wife Gloria of Elk Garden, and Ashley Shreve and husband TJ of Virginia; six grandchildren, Kaylee Shreve, Rosie Shreve, Breanna Shreve, Carter Idleman, Alyvia Idleman and partner Luke, and Austin Shreve; his brother, Eugene Shreve; along with numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Miles Shreve and a sister in law, Mary Shreve.

Friends will be received on Monday, December 22, 2025, from 5 to 8 PM, at the Loch Lynn Church of God. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, December 23, 2025, at 10 AM in the Church with Pastors Ivan and Cindy Ackerman officiating. Interment will be held privately in the Kings Cemetery.

The Fredlock & Fenner Funeral Homes, P.A. - Oakland Chapel is honored to be serving the Shreve family.
