Debra Ann Sweitzer, 72, of Swanton, passed away on March 30, 2026. Born on December 14, 1953, in Portsmouth, VA, she was the daughter of the late Clarence "WhiB" Mellinger and Bessie Carolina (Brown) Mellinger, who survives.
Debra was a proud graduate of Southern High School. She worked at the Swanton Store and Bausch & Lomb before serving as office manager at Stebbing Engineering. A faithful member of the Loch Lynn Church of God, she lived with a joyful spirit and a wide range of passions, including knife throwing, horses, dogs, rodeos, horse shows, traveling, and visiting zoos. She was President Trump's biggest supporter and cherished every opportunity to express her patriotism. Debra lived a meaningful life, traveling across the country with her loving husband, whose guitar playing and singing brought her endless delight. She was a devoted mother and grandmother, immensely proud of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, and she had a warm, outgoing personality that meant she never met a stranger.
In addition to her mother, she is. survived by her husband of 53 years, Steven R. Sweitzer, to whom she was married on November 5, 1972; her children, Heather M. (Sweitzer) Carr and husband Carnie, and Steven E. Sweitzer; grandchildren, Laken Brook (Sweitzer) Miller, Payton Carnie Randall Carr, Rylenn Sweitzer, Steven Sweitzer, and Michael Sweitzer; great grandchildren, Taria, Sawyer, Adaline, and Gavin Miller; and her siblings, Cheryl Mellinger, Clarence Mellinger Jr., and wife Diana, and Randy Mellinger and wife Becky.
Friends will be received on Friday, April 3, 2026, from 11 AM to 1 PM, in the Loch Lynn Church of God. A funeral service will be held at 1 PM in the church with Pastors Ivan and Cindy Ackerman officiating. Interment will follow in the Rose Hill Cemetery.
