Dorothy Lee Waybright, 93, of Jenningston, passed away on May 25, 2025, at Cortland Acres. Born on November 28, 1931, in Harman, she was the daughter of the late Emerson and Josie (Smith) Cooper.
Dorothy graduated from Harman High School with the class of 1951. She immediately began her life as a wife and soon became a mother. She found joy and purpose on her beloved farm, where she nurtured life from the soil, growing not only vegetables but also cherished memories. Her vibrant garden was the source of many delicious dishes that brought joy to family, friends, and neighbors alike. Known for her generosity, Dorothy volunteered her time and talents at countless community events, always ready with a homemade dish and a warm smile. She loved singing in the church choir, where her beautiful alto voice shone. She also enjoyed crocheting and gifted many blankets to her loved ones. Dorothy was a longtime board member of the Flanagan Hill Community Center, cooked for the Harman Senior Center and the Tucker County Senior Citizens Dinners at Flanagan Hill, and was a member of the Harman CEOS, the Harman VFW Ladies Auxiliary, the Harman Church of the Brethren, and the Flanagan Hill Church Choir.
Her dedication to her community, kindness, and unwavering support for those around her left a lasting impact that will not be forgotten. Dorothy will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who had the pleasure of knowing her. Her legacy of love and service lives on in the hearts of many.
She is survived by two sons, Milton Waybright and wife Kim of Red Creek, and Kendall Waybright and wife Marsha of Jenningston; grandchildren, Weylin Barkley and wife Jennifer, Brant Ours and wife Karen, Chandra Waybright, Travis Waybright, John Waybright, Gavin Waybright and wife Cindy, Chasity Sharp, Collin Waybright and wife Tiffany, Kendra Waybright, and Josie Waybright; numerous great and great-great grandchildren; a sister, Wilma Jean Fulmer of Chesterland, OH; and a special niece, Victoria Bennett of Harman.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Andrew Waybright; children, Andrea Ours and husband Rich, Vaughn Waybright, and John Waybright; an infant grandchild, Shelly Barkley; and siblings, Billy Cooper and wife Katherine, and Palmer Cooper and wife Phyllis.
Dorothy's request for cremation was honored. A memorial service will be held on June 22, 2025, at 1 PM in the Flanagan Hill Church of Red Creek with Pastor Jonathan Hedrick officiating. A dinner will follow immediately after at the Flanagan Hill Community Center.
