Edward Mikel
Elicky
June 3, 1932 – April 11, 2026
Edward Mikel Elicky, 93, of Oakland, passed away on April 11, 2026, at Dennett Rehab Center. Born on June 3, 1932, in Chicago, IL, he was the son of the late Joseph John and Virginia (Gurzac) Elicky.
Edward was a man who truly embraced life's simple pleasures and competitive spirit. He loved playing cards, with Texas Hold 'em and poker being his favorites, and he spent many enjoyable evenings testing his skills at local casinos. Over the years, he participated in multiple bowling leagues, where his steady hand and friendly rivalry made him a popular teammate. An avid sports fan, Edward followed basketball, football, and golf with great enthusiasm, rarely missing a big game or tournament. He was affectionately known among friends and family for his notoriously bad luck with deer-somehow managing to hit quite a few with the front of his car over the years. After a long and dedicated career, Edward retired from the Sunbeam Corporation, leaving behind a legacy of hard work and good-natured camaraderie.
He is survived by his nephews and nieces, Pam Bittinger of Abingdon, MD, Eric Bittinger and wife Lisa of Jarrettsville, MD, Todd Bittinger of Abingdon, MD, and Rena Moroni and partner David Erickson of Oakland, MD; and lifelong, close friends and caregivers, Kim Durst and Mary Croston.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Veletta "Toby" Idella (Ashby) Elicky.
Services will be privately held on Friday, April 17, 2026, where he will be laid to rest at the Oakland Cemetery.
The Fredlock & Fenner Funeral Homes, P.A. - Oakland Chapel is honored to be caring for Mr. Elicky.
