Elizabeth Ann Shaffer

Oakland

Elizabeth Ann "Betty" Shaffer, 83, of Oakland, passed away on May 19, 2026, at J.W. Ruby WVU Hospital. Born on January 4, 1943, in Crellin, Maryland, she was the daughter of the late Hank and Pauline (Calhoun) Henline.

For many years, Betty worked as an inspector for Bausch & Lomb and later as a pharmacy technician until retirement. She was a faithful member of the Oak Park Church of the Brethren, where she and her husband enjoyed the church fellowship. She was always ready to serve where needed, as a deacon, board member, or a participant on various committees. She enjoyed showing her love for her family by preparing meals and baking delicious cookies. After retirement, she traveled with her husband all over the United States and had many stories to share about their fun-filled adventures. Her hobbies included bird watching, caring for her flowers, doing puzzles, and watching game shows. Betty's family was the center of her world. Making sure everyone was taken care of was her life's priority. She was the backbone of her family, and will be deeply missed by them all. Her strong faith in our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ gives the family comfort and peace knowing that she is resting eternally with Him.

She is survived by her husband of nearly 65 years, Donald Shaffer Sr.; her children, Lori Stites and husband Craig of N.C., Donnie Shaffer and wife Andrea of Oakland, Ron Shaffer of Oakland, and Rhonda Greene and husband Ricky of N.C., grandchildren, Bradley Shaffer and fiancée Rachel, Matthew Shaffer and wife Morgan, Madison Shaffer and significant other Luke, Will Stites, Nick Stites, Michael Greene and fiancée Anna, and Carter Greene; great grandchildren, Weston, Waylon, Wellington, Wade, Nataley, Lilly, Emma, John and Rylee; siblings, Gerald "Jerry" Henline and wife Anna, and Tom Henline and wife Shirley.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, William "Bud" Henline and Charles "Ed" Henline.
