George V. DiBacco, age 86, of Washington, PA, passed away on May 28, 2025, in the loving embrace of his family. Born on August 13, 1938, in Thomas, WV, George was a proud West Virginian who cherished his roots. He earned his Bachelor's Degree before embarking on a successful career as an accountant with Kaiser Aluminum.
After graduating from WVU, George moved to New York City and was later drafted into the army. His career path took him to Baltimore, then Chicago, where he met his beloved wife, Cheryl. The family subsequently moved to Columbus, OH, and Parkersburg, WV, before settling in Washington, PA, over the last decade to be closer to his loved ones. George was an avid sports enthusiast, passionately supporting West Virginia University athletics. He adored his family above all and was devoted to attending all his children's activities, taking immense pride in celebrating the achievements of his grandchildren-Julia Sandoval, Summer Sandoval, Giuliana DiBacco, George DiBacco, and Henry DiBacco. A history buff, George found joy in reading and birdwatching, and he delighted in developing the family lake property in Mt. Storm, where cherished memories continue to be made during annual family gatherings. He leaves behind a lasting legacy of love, family, and devotion.
He is survived by his daughter, Debbie Sandoval and husband Julio; son, Daniel DiBacco and wife Ashley; sister-in-law, Betty DiBacco; grandchildren, nieces and nephews who will forever hold him in their hearts.
George was preceded in death by wife, Cheryl DiBacco; father and mother, Harry and Alice DiBacco; sister, Paula Cannon; and brother, H Thomas DiBacco
Friends will be received on Friday, June 6, 2025, from 4 to 7 PM, with Rosary at 6:30 PM, at the Fredlock & Fenner Funeral Homes - Davis Chapel. A funeral service will be held on June 7, 2025, at 11 AM in the St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church with Father Martin Smay officiating. George will be laid to rest in Thomas, WV, at Mount Calvary Cemetery.
