Harland Eugene "Bruce" Ream of Oakland died on Friday, January 16, 2026, at Cherry Hill Assisted Living in Accident. Born on January 31, 1940, he was the son of the late Harland Gilbert and Thelma (Hoye) Ream.
Bruce was a graduate of Northern High School and served in the National Guard. He worked briefly for the Garrett County Sheriff's Department. He then drove a truck and retired after many years from the Maryland State Highway Administration. He will be remembered for pulling many out of snow drifts.
He enjoyed turkey hunting, Harleys, and Hill Ridge riding. He was also a regular visitor at Little Sandy's in the "Ol' days."
He is survived by his sister, Shirley Ream Dewey of Locust Grove, VA; and a number of nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Bruce was preceded in death by his wife, Kathryn (Murphy) Ream, in 2011; a sister, Glendene Ream Alexander; and brothers, Harland Lynn Ream, Ronald L. Ream and Edward L. Ream.
Friends will be received on Friday, January 23, 2026 from 4 to 6 PM at the Fredlock & Fenner Funeral Home, P.A.- Oakland Chapel, 21 N 2nd St., Oakland. A funeral service will be held at 6 PM with Pastor John Skipper officiating. Private interment will be in St. Peter's Catholic Cemetery, Westernport, next to his wife.
