Helen Harris

Helen Jean (Broadwater) Harris, 84, of Oakland, passed away on September 8, 2025 at her home. Born on May 8, 1941, in Swanton, MD, she was the daughter of Everett and Lennie Broadwater.

When she graduated from high school, she worked for a time at the Pentagon. Helen greatly enjoyed working for her family business, Harris Pools. She was a member of Deer Park United Methodist Church.

She is survived by her husband, Harold Harris, of 65 years, to whom she married on September 4, 1960; two sons, Delmas Harris, and Ken Harris and wife Clarissa, both of Oakland; two grandchildren, Kevin and wife Helen, and Kayge; siblings, Doris Harmon, Loretta Mangan and husband Dwight, Dale Broadwater and wife Sharon, and Margaret Uphold and husband Rodger; and a sister in law, Hazel Broadwater.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one son, Rick Harris; siblings, Ellis Broadwater and wife Ilene, Myrtle Beulah and husband Crouder, and Willard Broadwater; and a brother in law, Robert Harmon.

Friends will be received at the Fredlock & Fenner Funeral Homes, P.A. - Oakland, 21 N 2nd St., Oakland, on Saturday, September 13, 2025, from 11 AM to 1 PM. A funeral service will follow with Pastor Carl Lee officiating.
