Helen Ardith Lipscomb

Helen Ardith Lipscomb, 89, of Aurora, WV passed away peacefully on July 29, 2026, at Cherry Hill Assisted Living in Accident, MD. Born on December 23, 1936, in Stemple Ridge, WV, she was the daughter of the late Clayton E. and Lydia M. (Shahan) Harsh.

Helen lived a life marked by kindness, generosity, and unwavering devotion to those she loved. She was a 1955 graduate of Springfield High School in Springfield, Ohio. Helen was a homemaker and worked at the Aurora School for many years as a custodian and cook. Faith played a central role in her life; she was a longtime and active member of the Aurora United Methodist Church. Beyond her work and church commitments, she enjoyed quilting, tending her garden and blueberry patch, but she especially loved her family and the opportunity to travel and see new places. These pastimes reflected her appreciation for beauty and tradition, and her quiet generosity of spirit and adventure. Her selflessness, warmth, and sweet smile will be remembered forever.

She is survived by her four children, George Alan Lipscomb, Jr., and wife Barbara of Aurora, Gary Bryan Lipscomb and wife Susan of Oak Hill, WV, Jeffrey Wayne Lipscomb and wife Pamela of Aurora, and Robin Louise Chambers and husband J.B. of Aurora; nine grandchildren, Lori Pennington and husband Terry of Mt. Storm, WV, Kelli Lipscomb of Cumberland, MD, Jared Lipscomb and wife Stephanie of Coal Grove, OH. Travis Lipscomb and wife Jayna of Morgantown, WV, Jonathan Chambers of Clarksburg, WV, Derek Chambers of Berkley Springs, WV, Samantha Chambers and fiancé Elijah Morton of Chicago, IL and Winchester, VA, Aron Lipscomb and wife Haylee of Oakland, MD, and Trevor Lipscomb and wife Alyssa of Aurora; Fifteen great grandchildren, Lily, Luke, Caleb, and Adelaine Pennington, Brittany Thomas and fiancé Braxton Crites, Alyssa Thomas, Ebony and Marcus Thomas, Omari Holden and Prince Lipscomb, Carter, Kamden, and Colsen Lipscomb, Gavin Chambers, and Caroline Lipscomb. She is also survived by brothers-in-law Harold Doolittle and Dr. William Hall; and a sister-in-law, Eloise Harsh.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, George Alan Lipscomb, Sr.; siblings, Mary Jane Henline, Stanley Harsh, Melvin Harsh, Oran Harsh, Cleota Harsh, and Shirley Doolittle, and a granddaughter, Rhianna Lipscomb.

Friends will be received on Wednesday, August 5, 2026, from 5 to 7 PM, at the Aurora Memorial Building and at 10 AM on Thursday August 6, 2026, at the Aurora United Methodist Church followed by the funeral service at 11 AM with Rev. Mike Lantz officiating. Interment will follow in the Aurora Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations would be appreciated for Aurora United Methodist Church, Union Ambulance, and the Aurora Volunteer Fire Department. The family also want to say a special thank you to the staff at Cherry Hill Assisted Living, we are grateful for the extraordinary care and compassion provided to our mother, aunt, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
