Janice Tucker, 71, passed away on Friday, October 23, 2026, at her home following a courageous battle with breast cancer. She is a graduate of Southern High School in Oakland, MD. Throughout her life, she worked as a dispatcher and red hat at Steyer Mine, a role that reflected her connection to the people around her. This work was a meaningful part of her life and added to the many memories and friendships she made along the way.

Janice was a loving wife, mother, nana, sister, and friend whose presence brought warmth, laughter, and love to those around her. Above all else, Janice loved her family with everything she had. Her daughter, Stephanie, and her granddaughter, Jaydan, were her heartbeats. The love she had for them was immeasurable, and the bond they shared will forever be cherished. Her love will continue to live on through them, in the memories they hold close, the laughter they shared, and the countless ways she made their lives better.

Janice was preceded in death by her father, Kenneth Dawson; her dearly loved sister, Patty Newbraugh; her brother, Kenny Dawson; and her beloved Shih Tzu, Dakota. We find comfort in imagining the joyful reunion that awaited her in Heaven.

Janice is survived by her husband of 26 years, Donald Tucker; her daughter, Stephanie Moore, and son-in-law, Bryan Moore; her granddaughter, Jaydan Warner; her grandson, Brycen Moore; her beloved Shih Tzu, Abby; her sister, Tina Sloan; her son, Shawn Vance; several nieces and nephews; and many lifelong friends.

Throughout her life, Janice held firmly to her faith in God. Even through her difficult battle with breast cancer, she showed strength and perseverance. While those who loved her will miss her more than words can express, there is peace in knowing she is now resting in the arms of her Lord and Savior. Her earthly journey has ended, but the love she gave and the lives she touched will continue long after her passing.

Janice leaves behind a legacy of compassion, honesty, humor, and unconditional love. She was a woman who helped others, loved fiercely, spoke freely, and lived in a way that people will never forget. She was wonderfully and unapologetically herself, and there will never be another quite like her.

Until we meet again, Janice. May you rest peacefully in the arms of Jesus. You were loved more than you ever knew, and you will never be forgotten. We love you bunches.

To honor Janice's wishes, she will be cremated and a celebration of her life will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Cindy's Fund, P.O. Box 182, Oakland, MD 21550, in Janice's memory.
