Obituary

John Clarence Sisler, 72, of Thomas, passed away on July 28, 2026, at his residence. Born on January 19, 1954, in Oakland, he was the son of the late Sherman B. and Gloria J. (Paugh) Sisler.

John was a 1972 graduate of Mountaineer High School. He spent much of his working life working as a heavy equipment operator for Buffalo Coal, where he took pride in the hard work and camaraderie that defined the industry.

Away from the mines, John found joy in the outdoors and the simple pleasures of life. He loved hunting, fishing, camping, and riding four-wheelers. He was never happier than when he had a project vehicle to work on. Above all, he treasured time spent with his family.

He is survived by his wife, Darlene E. (Giddens) Sisler, to whom he was married on August 6, 1987; his stepdaughter, Angela Inglese and husband Michael; step-grandchildren, Darrah Whitaker and husband Blake, Laken DeSignore and husband John Jr., and Laurel Inglese; step great grandchildren, Jobe and Josie Whitaker; and siblings, Janet Sisler Sieberg, Joyce Strader, and Judy Caplinger and husband Ken along with one niece and several nephews. He was preceded in death by stepson Larry "Manny" Lipscomb and two nephews.

John's request for cremation was honored. There will be a celebration of life held later this fall.

The Fredlock & Fenner Funeral Homes - Davis Chapel is honored to be serving John's family.
