Leif Eric Piper, 75, of Oakland, passed away on December 24, 2025, at WVU Ruby Memorial Hospital. Born on November 17, 1950, in Baltimore, he was the son of the late Frankie Walter and Ruby E. (Dilley) Piper.

Leif, a proud graduate of Southern Garrett High School, continued his education at Garrett Community College before proudly serving his country in the United States Coast Guard. Following his military service, he built a meaningful career, working in sales at Piper Building Supply with his two brothers, Glen and Fritz, and later in the civil department of the Maryland Judicial System. A devoted man of faith, Leif was an active member of both the Loch Lynn Church of God and the Gaithersburg Church of God in Gaithersburg, MD. His hobbies beautifully reflected his thoughtful and engaging personality: he was an avid chess player, enjoyed attending antique car shows, and loved going to yard sales and auctions for unique treasures. Above all, Leif cherished the simple, heartfelt moments spent with family and friends, which brought him the greatest happiness.

He is survived by his devoted wife of 32 years, Barbara R. (Liller) Piper, to whom he was married on August 26, 1993; his children, Amy Sherbin and husband John, and Beau Piper and wife Randi, all of Oakland; his stepchildren, Michael Thomas and wife Ashlee, Angela Meyer and husband Dave, and Amy Harvey and husband Paul, all of Oakland; grandchildren, Brandon Roberts and wife Rachel, Gavin McConnell and wife Becca, and Max Piper; step-grandchildren, Michael Thomas and wife Megan, Hunter Thomas, Jayden Weaver, Alexander Meyer and fiancee Jodie, Parker Meyer, Jaiden Todd and husband Landon, Regan Fratz and husband Logan, Jordan Sherbin, Jetta Sherbin, and Jalynn Sherbin; great grandchildren, Reighlyn Blake McConnell, Haven Leigh Thomas, Delilah Joy Thomas, Maisie Kae Todd, and Kash Damon Fratz; and his brother, Fritz Piper and wife Susan of Oakland.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandson, Fox Piper, and his brother, Glenroot J. Piper.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Loch Lynn Church of God - School Building Fund.

Friends will be received on Tuesday, December 30, 2025, from 9 to 11 AM, at the Loch Lynn Church of God. A funeral service will be held at 11 AM in the Church with Pastors Ivan and Cindy Ackerman officiating. Interment will be held privately in the Garrett County Memorial Gardens.
