Lena Wilt

Lena G. "Janet" Wilt, 89, of Oakland, passed away on September 27, 2025, at the Madison Center in Morgantown. Born on March 10, 1936, in Elk, WV, she was the daughter of the late Early and Texie (Carr) Foster.

Lena, better known as Janet, was a devoted homemaker and a cafeteria worker for the Garrett County School system, where she brought warmth to students and staff. A faithful member of the Underwood United Brethren In Christ Church, her deep love for God and her Savior guided her life. Janet found joy in gardening, particularly nurturing flowers, and expressed her faith through singing gospel music. Her family was her heart, and her life of service and compassion left a lasting legacy in her community.

She is survived by her children, Arthur Wilt and wife Bonnie of Kingwood, Steve Wilt and wife Gale of Masontown, Terry Shaffer and husband Brad of Silver Lake, and Phillip "Marty" Wilt, Jr., and wife Debbie of Deer Park; nine grandchildren, Jenny Wilt, Denny Wilt, Mike Wilt, Jaimie Wilt, Cody Wilt and wife Lacey, Rich Wilt and wife Trish, Andy Wilt and companion Shayna, Erika Myers and husband Adam, and Stevi Ellzfritz; twelve great grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Bud Wilt, Sr., to whom she was married on July 14, 1951; her son, Benjamin "Butch" Wilt; and eight siblings, Mildred, George, John, Geraldine, Marvin, Earl, Billie, and infant Archie Benjamin.

Friends will be received on Wednesday, October 1, 2025, from 4 to 7 PM, at the Fredlock & Fenner Funeral Homes, P.A. - Oakland Chapel. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, October 2, 2025, at 11 AM in the Underwood United Brethren in Christ Church with Pastor Frank Harvey officiating. Friends will be received one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow in the Garrett County Memorial Gardens.
