Leona Fike

Leona Mae Fike, 89, of Kitzmiller, passed away on July 16, 2025. Born on September 9, 1935, in Kitzmiller, she was the daughter of the late Frederick and Leola (Tichnell) Tasker.

Leona dedicated many years of her life to education, serving as a teaching assistant for the Garrett County Board of Education until her retirement. A woman of deep faith, she was a devoted member of Mt. Zion United Methodist Church, where she found spiritual fulfillment and community. In her free time, Leona nurtured her creative and caring spirit through sewing, playing the piano, gardening, and exploring genealogy, connecting with her family's history. She also delighted in cooking and shopping, but nothing brought her more joy than spending precious moments with her beloved grandchildren, who were the heart of her world.

She is survived by her husband of 71 years, Thomas Fike, to whom she was married on September 12, 1953; also surviving are her children, Brenda Miller an husband Butch of Oakland, and Tamara Virts and husband Rick of Kitzmiller; three grandchidren, Brittany Gregory and husband Stephen of Inwood, WV, Caitlyn Sturm and husband Cain of Hazelton, WV, and Matthew Virts and wife Erica of Kitzmiller; four great grandchildren, Westyn Virts, Colton Sturm, Reid Virts, and Cade Virts; her brother, Jimmie Tasker; her sister in law, Helen Tasker; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Junior Tasker; her sister in law, Kathleen Tasker; and numerous extended family members and friends.

Friends will be received on Monday, July 21, 2025, from 4 to 7 PM, at the Fredlock & Fenner Funeral Homes, P.A. - Oakland Chapel. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, July 22, 2025, at 11 AM in the Mt. Zion United Methodist Church with Pastor John Sharpless officiating. Interment will follow in the Mt. Zion Cemetery.
