Leona Jean Howell, 84, of Thomas, WV passed away April 18, 2015 at Cortland Acres.
She was born May 28, 1930 in Pierce, WV a daughter of the late Alfred Taylor and Lida Marie Glass Runion. She was preceded in death by her husband, Leon Edward Howell, 3 brothers; Eugene, Junior and Elwood, 4 sisters; Sylvia, Pearl, Rose and Myrtle. Survivors include 3 daughters; Diane (Denny) Shoemaker, Bonnie (Mark) Gravelle both of Thomas, WV and Clara (Harold) Shoemaker, Roanoke Rapids, NC, 1 sister; Louise Felton, Davis, WV, 9 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-granddaughter.
Leona was a homemaker. She enjoyed sewing in earlier years, reading, doing crafts, playing solitaire and other games. She was a member of Thomas United Methodist Church and Blackwater Rebekah Lodge # 274.
Friends will be received on Monday April 20, 2015 at Hinkle Funeral Home from 3-8 PM. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday April 21 at 1:00 PM at Hinkle Funeral Chapel with Rev. Neal Parsons officiating. Interment will follow in the Rose Hill Cemetery. Hinkle Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
