Lurvena Cosner

Laverna (Murphy) Cosner, 80, of Davis, passed away at her home on October 14, 2026. Born on August 2, 1946, in Keyser, she was the daughter of the late Gerald Victor and Jennie Marguerite (Bill) Murphy.

She graduated from Elk Garden School. She was a proud foster grandparent and spent countless hours caring for children at Davis-Thomas Elementary and Middle School. She retired from Canaan Valley housekeeping. She was a member of the Rebekah's Lodge and the Odd Fellows. She loved attending her home church, Community Bible Church, in Davis. In her free time, she enjoyed the challenge of crossword puzzles and word searches. She loved spending time with her family and loved all kinds of animals.

She is survived by her sons, Gerald Cosner and wife Pam of Davis, and Scott Cosner and Tammy of Barton, MD; grandchildren, Shawn Cosner, Ryan Cosner, and Nathan Cosner and wife Lilly; great-grandchildren, Evelyn and Maryn; siblings, Shirley and Gerald: and daughter in-law, Kelly Cosner.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by the father of her children, David W. Cosner; sister, Millie; and nephew, Jimmy.

Friends will be received on Monday, October 19, 2026, from 11 AM to 1 PM, at the Fredlock & Fenner Funeral Homes - Davis Chapel. A funeral service will be held at 1 PM in the funeral home, with Pastor John Callaway officiating. Interment will follow in the Kalbaugh Cemetery, Elk Garden.
