Nancy Feather

September 30, 1956 — July 22, 2025

Nancy Lou Feather, 68, of Aurora, West Virginia, passed away peacefully on July 22, 2025, at Hospice of the Panhandle in Kearneysville, WV. Born on September 30, 1956, in Cambridgeshire, England, Nancy was the beloved daughter of the late Jim and Peggy Houser. A devoted educator, lifelong learner, and fierce advocate for empathy, she earned her Master of Social Work from West Virginia University and poured her heart into teaching at both WVU and Garrett College. Her classrooms were not just places of learning-they were spaces of understanding, encouragement, and hope.

Nancy had a rare and beautiful gift for seeing the good in everyone. Her warmth, kindness, and deep love for her family were evident in every part of her life. She was a devoted mother to her children, Kiley Feather (Bill Preece), Seth Feather (Morgan Feather), and Jordan Feather, and a proud and loving grandmother to Penny Feather, Edwin, Ellia, and Elias Ramirez. Her family was her greatest joy, and she placed them above all else. She often quoted her treasured Grandma Thelma, reminding them, "I love you a bushel and a peck and a hug around the neck."

Nancy was a gifted storyteller and a creative spirit. Her stories bound people together in laughter, tears, and understanding. Whether she was sharing family memories, writing, or sparking imagination in her students and grandchildren, her stories had a way of making people feel understood, inspired, and connected. Her creativity shone through in her teaching, her home, and the many lives she touched.

She is also survived by her cherished sisters and brothers-in-law: Bill and Dianna Bachtel, Norma Byrd, and Tim and Billie Umbel; as well as many nieces, nephews, and friends who will miss her dearly.

She was a proud great-aunt to a growing generation of great-nieces and great-nephews, who brought her joy and laughter with each visit and memory shared. Nancy's memory will live on in the lives she touched with her compassion, her creativity, and her unwavering love.

A celebration of life and dinner will be held at Aurora United Methodist Church August 11 , 2025 at 3 PM led by Pastor Mike Lantz. This celebration of life is a time to remember together - we invite you to share your stories.
