Nancy Carol Savage, 81, of Oakland, MD, passed away on June 16, 2025, at her home. Born on May 6, 1944, in Oakland, MD, she was the daughter of the late Stanley and Betty DeWitt.
Nancy, with her husband Ken, operated Savage Greenhouse in Rosedale for many years. She loved flowers and birds and being in the sunshine. She liked having a clean house but loved her knick-knacks and treasured them all. She lost the love of her life after 58 years of marriage two years ago, but before that time, she cared for him diligently for close to a decade while he battled cancer. Nancy and Ken had wonderful neighbors, Jeff and MaryAnn Murphy, who did so much for them over the years. Nancy's last years since Ken's passing was made easier with the help and special friendship of Nina and Wayne Miller.
She is survived by four daughters, Christina Lynn Zavala and husband Pio, Kimberly Sue Wiles, Tracey Renee Horner and husband Donnie, and Jennifer Marie Wilson and husband Josh; eleven grandchildren, Brittany, Ashley, Shannon, Bobby, Maria, Alycia, Corey, Alec, Emma, Elias, and Bella; twelve great grandchildren, Trey, Adeline, Tyson, Tayah, Rowen, Aslynn, Asher, Marlee, Addie, Macy, Madden, and Laikyn; and five siblings, Terry DeWitt, Donald Richard DeWitt, Stanley William DeWitt, Jr., Darrell Wayne DeWitt, and Judy Ann Gillespie.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Michael Allen DeWitt and Carl Edward DeWitt.
Friends will be received on Thursday, June 19, 2025, from 6 to 8 PM and Friday, June 20, 2025, at 10 AM at the Fredlock & Fenner Funeral Homes, P.A. - Oakland Chapel. A funeral service will follow at 11 AM with Pastor John Skipper officiating. Private interment will be held in the Garrett County Memorial Gardens. The family would like to extend an invitation to a dinner to follow at Pleasant View Baptist Church, 8931 Garrett Highway, Oakland, Maryland.
