Obituary

Patricia Maxine (Skipper) Groves, 79, of Oakland, passed away on August 17, 2026, at Moran Manor in Westernport. Born on February 27, 1947, in Cumberland, she was the daughter of the late John Henry and Maxine Adele (Glotfelty) Skipper.

Patricia graduated from Southern High School and was a devoted member of Loch Lynn Church of God. She found quiet joy in crocheting prayer shawls alongside her friends and the congregation at Oak Park Church of the Brethren.

Above all, Patricia cherished the time she spent helping raise her grandchildren and great-nephews, and spending time with friends and family

She is survived by her children, daughter Catherine Callis and husband Brian, daughter Samantha Glotfelty, and son Luther Groves; grandchildren, Melanie Custer, Alexandria Shook and husband Jedediah, Megan Peck and husband Colton, and Ryan Glotfelty; her great-grandson, Reid Garrett Peck; her brother, John Skipper and wife Kathy. And numerous nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Warren Groves; their son, Bruce Groves; and her sister, Ruth Warnick, and Ruth's husband, Cliff.

Friends will be received on Friday, August 21, 2026, from 11 AM to 1 PM, at the Fredlock & Fenner Funeral Homes, P.A. - Oakland Chapel. A funeral service will be held at 1 PM in the funeral home, with Pastors Ivan and Cindy Ackerman officiating. Interment will follow in the Rose Hill Cemetery, Swanton.

The Fredlock & Fenner Funeral Homes are honored to be serving the Grove family.
