Patricia Sue Barker was born on March 26th 1931 to parents Dana Sheets Barker & Orpah P. Cather in Marion County, Fairmont WV. Patricia's baptism and confirmation occurred at the First Presbyterian Church in Grafton WV (Church of the Covenent).
Class of 1949 graduate from Grafton High school, Patricia furthered her education at Gradwol School Laboratory & X-ray Technique in St. Louis MO. She then interned for six months and continued to work at the Southern Illinois Hospital Association as a lab technician. Moving to Garrett County she attended classes required by the state of Maryland at Garrett Community College. While attending Garrett Community College she was also employed at the Garrett Memorial Hospital as a lab tech. After graduation her passion for community and service led her to the State Department of Agriculture Veterinary Health Lab (formally in Oakland MD). A career spanning 35 years of exceptional service before her retirement. In her spare time she also worked as a part time bartender at the (former) Cornish Manor in Oakland.
Married July 2nd 1949 to William Clayton White in Oakland. Patricia later remarried on November 5th 1999 to Edward Lee Moore in Oakland. Patricia was proceeded in death by both husbands and is survived by three children: John White (Oakland), Lynda Weeks (Oakland), and Karen Chaikin (Columbia MD).Seven grandchildren: Aaron White, Adam White, Evelyn Zawada, Nikolas Chaikin, Dana Chaikin, Tory Weeks, and Elric Weeks. Six great grandchildren: Ingrid White, Morgan White, Addison White, Madelyn White, Remington Zawada, and Maverick Zawada.
Patricia was a member of many social and political organizations. These include The American Association of Veterinary Clinical Microbiologist, Jr. Women's Civic Club (past President), Civic Club of Oakland (past President), Garrett County B.P.W. (twice President), Kansas Pythian Sisters Good Hope Temple #1, Garrett County Pythian Sisters Temple #17 (P.D.D.G.C. twice & all other local offices), Lonaconing Morning Star Temple #1, Garrett County Republican Committee (two terms as Treasurer), Southern Garrett County Republican Women's Club (past President), S.A.L.T. (First Chairman), Garrett County Community Action Committee (past member), Maryland State Republican Women's Club (Sgt. At Arms), The Oakland Rotary Club, Red Hat Society "Foxy Ladies", and the Manatee Red Hats Ruskin FL. (Queen Mum and Princess). With so much service to the local community and state, Patricia earned several awards. These awards include State Honorable Service certificates, I Am Paul Harris Fellow-2009, B.P.W- Woman of the Year, and the Bill Shepard Campaign Chair for Garrett County. Patricia Sue White-Moore passed away July 4th 2026 at the age of 95 with family present. ABEO
