Ralph Filsinger

Ralph Philip Filsinger, 69, of Oakland, passed away on January 19, 2026., at his home with family by his side. Born on March 6, 1956, he was the son of the late Robert M. Filsinger, Sr. and Dorothy (Lindamood) Filsinger.

Ralph graduated from Southern Garrett High School in 1974. He went on to attend Gulf Coast Community College and the University of Maryland, where he obtained a Bachelor of Science degree. Ralph joined the United States Air Force on January 6, 1976, and served until his retirement on September 30, 1996. He then worked for and retired from Unisys and Select Computing. Even after his last retirement, Ralph enjoyed working as a consultant.

He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Esther (Phillips) Filsinger, to whom he was married on May 22, 1975; one daughter, Melissa Filsinger and significant other Roderick Thornton of Stafford, VA; and siblings, Carol Craver and husband Roger of Eglon, WV, Jean Beard of Ocala, FL, Larry Filsinger and wife Becky of Summerfield, FL, and Doris Filsinger of Belleview, FL.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Linda Filsinger and Robert M. Filsinger, Jr.

Ralph's wishes for cremation were honored and a memorial service will be held at a later date. Donations, in Ralph's memory, may be made to Hospice of Garrett County, PO Box 271, Oakland, MD 21550. The family kindly requests no flowers.
