Richard Plank
February 26, 1926 — July 21, 2012
Richard Arthur Plank, Jr., 86, of Oakland died on Saturday, July 21, 2012 at Garrett County Memorial Hospital. Born on February 26, 1926 in Salisbury, he was the son of the late Richard A., Sr. and Gertrude (Meinhardt) Plank. He was a veteran of the United States Navy having served during WWII and was retired from Western Electrical, which later became Lucent Technologies. Richard was a member of the Bethel United Methodist Church in Mtn. Lake Park. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Alice (Lohr) Plank of Oakland; two daughters, Susan Plank of Oakland and Jennifer Lynn Dittenhofer of Lafayette, CO; a son, Mark Plank of Temple, TX; a granddaughter, Brandie Dittenhofer; and a brother, Robert A. Plank of Hurlock, MD. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Richard Edward Plank. Friends will be received at the Burdock-Fredlock Funeral Home, P.A., 21 N 2nd St., Oakland on Wednesday, July 25th from 3 to 7 PM at which time a funeral service will be held with Rev. Bobby Holcomb officiating. Interment will take place in Pleasant Valley Cemetery.
