On October 29, 1972, he married Kathern Frantz. Together they shared 53 years of marriage.

Robert found joy in the things that brought people together. He was a devoted fan of NASCAR, the Pittsburgh Steelers, and the Pittsburgh Pirates. He especially enjoyed watching his grandsons race on the dirt track.

He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Kathern Frantz; his children, Jeannie L. Frantz and fiancé Patrick Piper of Mountain Lake Park, Maryland, and Robert "Robbie" L. Frantz, Jr., and life partner Amy Mathes of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina; his grandchildren, Brandon L. Lucas and wife Darlene of Keyser, West Virginia, Shelton L. Lucas and wife Chelsea of New Creek, West Virginia, and Dillion L. Lucas of Mountain Lake Park, Maryland; his great-grandchildren, Kylah Williams, Madilyn Lucas, and Karleigh Lucas, all of Keyser, West Virginia; and his siblings, Raymond Frantz, Jr., of Washington Terrace, Utah, Donald Frantz and wife Neva of Eglon, West Virginia, David Frantz and wife Susan of Martinsburg, West Virginia, and James Frantz of Frederick, Maryland.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister-in-law, Diane Frantz.

A devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and brother, Robert will be remembered for his love of family, his loyalty to the teams and races he followed, and the quiet happiness he found in being there for the next generations.
