Deer Park United Methodist Church
1:00 - 2:00 pm (Eastern time)
Sharon Rowan Cole, 78, of Deer Park, passed away June 18, 2026, at Garrett Regional Medical Center with her family by her side. Born on July 2, 1947, in Frostburg, she was the daughter of the late Mason and Norma (Uphold) Madigan.
Sharon was a proud graduate of Southern High School who devoted her professional life to nurturing young minds as Director of St. Stephen's Episcopal Learning Center. She also worked for Garrett County Head Start as a bus aide. A faithful and active member of Deer Park United Methodist Church, she drew on her deep faith as a steady foundation that guided her kind and generous spirit throughout her life. She found genuine joy in socializing and spending meaningful time with others, always making those around her feel welcome, valued, and uplifted by her warm presence. Sharon took great pride in tending to her colorful flower beds and poured her heart into caring for her beloved furry companions-her dogs, Juno and Ling, and her cat, Sunday. Known as a savvy bargain shopper who delighted in finding a good deal, Sharon's greatest pleasure came from her cherished trips to Florida, where she could soak up the warm sunshine and spend precious time visiting her daughter, Tambra.
She is survived by her loving husband of 29 years, Lloyd Cole, to whom she was married on December 24, 1996; her daughter, Tambra Fulk and husband Frederick of Tarpon Springs, FL; her three grandchildren, Destinee Fulk, Jacquelyn Rowan, and John Rowan III; and her two siblings, Mike Madigan and Sharon Porter of Oakland, and Kelly Beachy and husband Gary of Swanton.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Chip Rowan, and her beloved nephew, Trenton Switzer.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Trenton's Promise, PO Box 532, Oakland, MD 21550 or to Cindy's Fund, PO Box 182, Oakland, MD 21550.
Sharon's request for cremation was honored, and there will be a celebration of life held on Saturday, June 27, 2026, at 1 PM, at the Deer Park United Methodist Church.
The Fredlock & Fenner Funeral Homes, P.A. - Oakland Chapel is honored to be serving Sharon's family.
