Sherry Lynn (Fickes) Graham, 75, of Oakland, MD, passed away on March 31, 2026, at Garrett Regional Medical Center. Born on July 10, 1950, in Oakland, she was the daughter of the late Charles William Sr. and Iva Mae (Vanmeter) Fickes. It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of a truly special woman whose love, strength, and spirit touched everyone who knew her.
She was a devoted wife to her loving husband, Fred, and a proud mother to her children. While she cherished her role as a mother, nothing brought her more joy than being a grandmother and great-grandmother. Her grandkids and great-grandkids were the light of her life, and she poured her heart into every moment spent with them. She was known for her spunky personality and her deep devotion to family. She had a heart full of love and a spirit that could light up any room she walked into. No matter what life brought her way, she met it with strength, humor, and grace. In her quieter moments, she loved watching westerns, with John Wayne being her absolute favorite. Those stories of strength, courage, and grit reflected the very qualities she carried in her own life. Her greatest accomplishment was not found in any job title, but in the love she gave so freely and the family she built and nurtured. She created a home filled with warmth, laughter, and unwavering support. Her presence was a comfort, her guidance a gift, and her love a constant that will never fade. She graduated from Southern High School and attended Fairview Covenant Brethren church.
She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Frederick James Graham, Jr. to whom she married on June 10, 1967; her children, Sheryl Hershman and partner Ronald Gwin, Michael Graham and wife Tracie, and Charles (Chuck) Graham and wife Becky, all of Oakland; grandchildren, Jordan Hershman and wife Kateleigh, of Jonestown, PA, Stephanie Hershman and partner Elliott Sebold of Mt. Lake Park, Marlaina Tichnell and husband Paul of Kitzmiller, Courtney Graham, Annie Rugola and husband Michael, Austin Graham and wife Brianna, all of Oakland, and Isaac Graham and fiancé Mariah Redmond of Keyser; great grandchildren, Brynleigh Mae Hershman, Haeleigh Mae Hershman, Logan Sebold, Emberly Sebold, Addison Tichnell, Everleigh Tichnell, Kaydence Moon, Madilynn Rugola, Peyton Rugola, Oscar Graham, Judah Graham and Lyle Graham; brothers, Charles Fickes and wife Barbara, Lloyd Fickes; and sister's in law, Debbie Fickes, and Jolene Fickes.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two siblings, Robin Fickes and George Fickes, a sister-in-law, Irene Fickes, and twin grandbabies, Oakley and Ensley Sebold. She will be deeply missed, forever loved, and always remembered by her husband, Fred, her children, her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Friends will be received on Saturday, April 4, 2026, at the Fairview Covenant Brethren Church from 11 AM to 12 PM. A funeral service will be held at 12 PM with Pastor Sam Moon officiating. Interment will follow at the Fairview Cemetery, 1101 Fairview Church Road, Oakland, MD 21550. The Fredlock & Fenner Funeral Homes, P.A. -Oakland Chapel, is honored to be serving the Graham family at this time.
