Teresa D. Simmons, 75, of Dryfork, passed away on December 4, 2025, at her home with her family by her side. Born on January 11, 1950, in Bethesda, MD, she was the daughter of the late Pierce Lewis and Clara Belle (Cherry) Thomas.
Theresa was a dedicated and compassionate individual who proudly graduated from Montgomery Blair High School in Silver Spring, Maryland. After her schooling, she channeled her passion for education and supporting young people by working as a Para Professional at Ellicott Mills School in Howard County, where she assisted teachers and students with care and commitment. Beyond her professional life, Theresa generously volunteered her time with Teens & Tots, ensuring the children were nourished by preparing and serving them dinner. An avid reader, she found joy and inspiration in books throughout her life. Deeply rooted in her faith, she was a devoted member of Canaan Valley Baptist Church, where her warm spirit touched many in the community.
She is survived by her husband, Gary Joseph Simmons, to whom she was married on July 23, 1994; three children, Jamie Elise Hoffman and husband Charles of Tawneytown, MD, Andrew Steven Dana of Baltimore, MD, and Megan Iizuka and husband Kai of Cornelius, NC; and two grandchildren, Dylan Thomas Rivera and Zora Jean Iizuka; and her sister, Marlene Kay Meads.
Friends will be received on Friday, December 12, 2025, from 10 AM to 2 PM, at the Canaan Valley Baptist Church. A graveside service will be held immediately after the visitation at the Rose Hill Cemetery in Thomas, with Pastor Brad Spencer officiating.
The Fredlock & Fenner Funeral Homes - Davis Chapel is honored to be serving the Simmons family.
