Tommy Gank

March 9, 1950 — October 2, 2025

Elk Garden

Tommy "Tom" Ray Gank, 75, of Elk Garden, West Virginia, passed away peacefully on October 2, 2025, at his home, surrounded by family and friends. Born on March 9, 1950, in Hutton, Maryland, Tom was the son of the late Clarence and Mable (Arbogast) Gank. Tom was also preceded in death by two sisters, Mae Michaels and Carla Stalnaker, and two brothers, Dayton Gank and Jerry Gank, as well as special brothers-in-law, Joe Patterson and Gene Donohue.

Tom was survived by his loving wife of more than 43 years, Debra Sue (Moore) Gank, who cared for him with love and devotion throughout his illness. Also surviving are three children, Joshua Thomas Gank and spouse Hannah of Keyser, Brian Gank, and one daughter, Jessica Briggs and spouse Scott of Oakland; grandchildren, Emma, Henry, and Maeve; two sisters, Gail Moore and husband Lawrence, and Shirley Patterson; two brothers, Dennis Gank and spouse Roxann, and Darvin Gank and spouse Brenda; and numerous nieces and nephews.

As a proud Marine Corps Veteran and patriot, Tom served his country with honor and carried that pride throughout his life. He worked as an underground coal miner for 40 years, providing for his family. Tom was also a Master Carpenter and Electrician, and he used these skills not only to build his own home but also to help friends, family, and neighbors whenever they were in need.

Tom's passion for walleye fishing brought him countless moments of peace on the water with his faithful companion, Annie, his beloved dog by his side and bringing light to his days with her loyal companionship. Tom was a member of the Kitzmiller Assembly of God Church.

Special thanks to friends Gloria Shreve and Tanya James for their help in caring for Tom and supporting Debbie throughout his illness. Also, a special thank you to WV Hospice and the Veterans Administration.

Tom's family was his greatest joy, and he leaves behind memories of love, laughter, and unwavering support. He will be greatly missed by everyone.

Friends and family will be received on Tuesday, October 7, 2025, from 4 to 7 PM, at the Kitzmiller Assembly of God Church, 291 West Main Street, Kitzmiller, MD.
